Nutanix .NEXT, May 21-23, Barcelona A big leap forward

Nutanix, which has built up a very good reputation in the areas of hyperconverged infrastructure and cloud computing in recent years, positioned itself as an alternative to VMware at its in-house exhibition .NEXT 2024. Between 21 and 23 May, around 5,000 visitors were given an insight into the technological development of Nutanix virtualization.

The fact that this year’s conference aroused particular interest is due to the acquisition of VMware by Broadcom. This acquisition has caused considerable excitement in the technology industry and especially in the IT infrastructure scene. Since then, many IT managers have been actively looking for alternatives to vSphere and were keen to see how Nutanix would position its offering and focus on the topics of the future. And they were not disappointed: Nutanix made it clear at .NEXT 2024 that it wants to go “all out” and cover enterprise IT as completely as VMware in terms of technology, but at the same time wants to do things better.

The innovations at the conference, which the manufacturer summarized under the slogan “Adopt, Modernize, Innovate”, were correspondingly impressive. In terms of technology, Nutanix promises innovations particularly in the areas of Kubernetes, cloud-native and AI. In terms of partnerships, the most important news is probably that Nutanix is now increasingly opening up to third-party manufacturers in terms of hardware support. For example, partnerships have been announced with Dell, Fujitsu, Cisco, Hewlett Packard, Lenovo, Supermicro and NVIDIA.

In addition to the innovations, Nutanix used the conference to present new customers and highlight recent migrations to the Nutanix ecosystem. For example, Rady’s Hospital from California reported on how it has migrated over 400 applications to the Nutanix environment. The University of Canberra in Australia is also happy with Nutanix and uses the vendor strategically to deliver AI and ML workloads. The American financial institution Wells Fargo reported how it was able to restore a 40 TByte database in just eight minutes using the Nutanix Database Service.
