Secure Kubernetes – Backup with Kasten K10

Kubernetes presents backup applications with challenges that traditional solutions cannot meet. Kasten K10, specifically designed for Kubernetes environments, promises a solution.

Companies of all sizes use Kubernetes to make their infrastructure more agile and scalable. The container system promises agile and efficient resource utilization, high availability, and fault tolerance for applications through the automated provisioning, scaling, and management of containers within clusters. However, it increases the complexity of IT infrastructure and introduces new challenges for data security and disaster recovery. While traditional backup solutions work well in static and monolithic environments, they quickly reach their limits in dynamic ecosystems with microservices.

In Kubernetes, containers run in numerous pods distributed across multiple hosts. These pods can be created and deleted in seconds, depending on the application’s load and requirements. Such an environment requires backups that not only capture the data within the pods but also include configurations, network settings, and relationships between different services and resources. Additionally, the backup software must ensure seamless and consistent backups while keeping pace with the speed and scalability of Kubernetes.
